A NEW FRIEND IN WATER WATCH

Friends of the Cacapon has recently teamed up with the Downstream Project and their Water Watch program in support of the Keep the Cacapon Clean campaign.

Water Watch is a citizen engagement program designed by the Downstream Project to help watershed groups connect with members and activate volunteers. Water Watch is built around two cloud-and-web-based applications developed by Chesapeake Commons: Water Reporter, a social networking app that shares images, observations, and monitoring data that fuels social media campaigns for improving water quality; and Field Doc, which measures watershed restoration impacts of best management practices at the project and parcel level.

The Cacapon is one of four regional watersheds selected by Downstream where the Water Reporter app will be widely deployed among members and stakeholders (the others being Middle River and Spout Run in Virginia and Sleepy Creek in West Virginia).
