MISSION
The Cacapon River faces growing threats from pollution, invasive species, deforestation, and erosion. Our river cleanups offer a hands-on way to make an immediate difference by removing man-made pollutants directly from the water. Fundraising, advocacy, and awareness matter—but getting our hands in the river is one of the most direct ways to protect its health.

What to expect
Groups of up to eight people will float the Cacapon River searching for trash, tires, and large debris to then transport to collection points for later pick up. The Cacapon River clean up initiative is a high intensity, hands-on volunteer activity for people who want to give their all to supporting the protection of this vital river biome. Participants will be partaking in active movement from kayaking to hauling large debris to their designated drop points. Volunteers can expect to spend three to four hours getting wet in the river under West Virginia summer heat conditions. Expect a safety meeting at the start of each clean up excursion.
